Rotorua born and raised, Tak has always lived in his birth town but spent a lifetime travelling Aotearoa New Zealand and abroad for both work and sport. 
 

Tak is the co-owner and director of the MDA Group operating in the tourism and events sector as well as business consultancy. Parent company, MDA Experiences, is an industry leader for both luxury and adventure tourism, which has a strong focus on Māori Business Development. It employs almost 100 staff throughout the group.

In 2019, Tak won the University of Auckland Aotearoa Young Māori Business Leaders Award and the New Zealand Māori Tourism Award.

​

Having been in tourism for over 20 years, Tak has spent his working life in the industry undertaking a wide range of roles from front line hosting and tour guiding to business development and marketing management. Having gone through the kura kaupapa (Māori total immersion) schooling system, Tak has taken the traditional values of his culture and weaved those throughout the group to ensure a business model that is lead with a people first approach.
